    Adam spent several years playing baseball in the MAA in the 1990's. He led his MAA midget team to the MAA's first appearance in the New Era tournament. that was his final appearance as a player representing the MAA. He returned the following season to the MAA as an assistant coach for the midget baseball team. While playing baseball for Manheim Central High School he was named the team's "Top Pitcher" his junior year in route to compiling a 8-3 varsity pitching record before graduating in 1999.

After high school he attended Lock Haven University to major in journalism. While attending college he was actively involved in the student sports broadcasting club, where he worked as a television reporter and sports play-by-play announcer on TV and radio covering a variety of sports including football, baseball, and basketball. On a few occasions he worked for ESPN and ABC Sports during national broadcasts of Penn State home football games. He also completed a summer internship with Fox 43 in York, PA before his senior year. He graduated as the top Journalism Senior in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and a minor in Political Science.

After college he was hired by WNVN-TV in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, as a news reporter and weekend anchor. His duties included working as part of a two man news team to produce a nightly television newscast, and a morning newscast for 6 radio stations. He continued his involvement in sports by working with the sports department as a radio play-by-play announcer and reporter for their high school football highlight show. The news team won 2004 Associate Press award for Best Newscast in North Carolina. Other career highlights include covering Hurricane Isabel in 2003, calling two high school basketball state championship games on radio, and interviewing the Governor of North Carolina, Mike Easley.

He left North Carolina and moved back to Lancaster County in September 2005. He is currently employed by PNC Bank in Lancaster as a financial sales consultant. He has continued his involvement in local sports by calling Mount Calvery's baseball playoff game on radio this past spring.  He and his wife, Laura, were married in August of 2003.  They have one child and are expecting another this spring.

Adam was winner on the field and continues to a winner in life.  We at the MAA are proud that Adam is one of our alumni and hopeful in the future he will be around to share his experience and success with the kids of the MAA.

Manheim Central Graduate & MAA Alumnus,
Natalie Grazan
excels at
Shippensburg University

     Nat played 10 years in the MAA softball program and cheered  for MAA.

Natalie Grazan - Shippensburg University Graduate, Field Hockey All-American  Forward, a Manheim Central and MAA alumnus.   
 
Grazan provided the offensive output at Shippensburg University for the past 4 years.
Field Hockey forward Natalie Grazan (Manheim Central) scored 17 goals and added seven assists, starting all 22 games, and finished second all-time in school history with 57 goals for the Lady Raiders (10-4 PSAC, 16-6), who lost to Bloomsburg in the PSAC finals and played in her fourth straight NCAA Division-II Tournament. Natalie was an All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) First Team selection and was named to the womensfieldhockey.com All-America Second Team.

MAA Alumnus,
Joe Gibson excels at
Hartwick College

 
   
Joe played baseball in the MAA for 6 years, cut grass and did field preps for the MAA.  
   
Joe Gibson Junior goalkeeper for the Division I Hartwick College Hawks was injured and subsequently red-shirted for the 2007 season.
Last summer Joe play for the Ottawa Canadians
in the United Soccer Leagues (USL)- Premier Development League. This league since its inception in 1986, USL has led the way in creating environments focused on player development, and the USL PDL serves this purpose. Designed to help prepare players for professional and international careers, the focus of the USL PDL is to provide top college and high school players with the opportunity to compete in a professionalized setting while maintaining their college eligibility. By providing these opportunities, the USL PDL has become the top destination for college players and elite youth players during the summer months.

This summer Joe will be playing somewhere to be determined later team in the PDL league.

  Brian Peters

                           
Teacher, Parent, Volunteer, Coach and MAA Alumnus

Mr. Peters teaches History at the Manheim Central Middle School;  This year marks his 12th year of teaching at Manheim Central. He is a graduate of both Manheim Central High School and Shippensburg University. Mr. Peters played varsity tennis while at Shippensburg and now coaches both the Girls and Boys Tennis teams at Manheim Central. His hobbies include sports, listening to alternative and punk music, and landscaping. Mr. Peters also enjoys spending time with his wife and three children.  Mr. Peters played in the MAA community league as youth. He is currently assisting to coach baseball in MAA to share his coaching skills with out kids. Brian's always has time for a child in need, at baseball games he is the best fan and at practices he lends a positive hand and gives the much needed words of support.  Brian is what the MAA is all about "supporting kids" we are glad he is and alumnus.

Mr. Peters teaches 7B World History. This year marks his 12th year of teaching at Manheim Central. He is a graduate of both Manheim Central High School and Shippensburg University. Mr. Peters played varsity tennis while at Shippensburg and now coaches both the Girls and Boys Tennis teams at Manheim Central. John W. Brubaker, Jr. "Bru"

Mr. Brubaker a 1986 graduate of Millersville University with a BS in Industrial Arts Education and earned my Masters Equivalency certification in 1991. He has been teaching for 20 years at Manheim Central High School.  He has served as an assistant football coach since 1987 and has been the Defensive Coordinator since 1992. He also served 14 years as the Head Boy Track Coach (1988 - 2002).  Bru has been active in this community as a past player in the MAA, as an advisor to the MAA coaching staff, and actively involved in the MAA flag football program and many more community organizations.  Bru is married has two sons who are attending  Manheim Central He always has time for any kid that needs support or a helping hand.  Bru is a natural and at his best when he is helping kids. We at the MAA are proud to have him as an alumnus.

GRAHAM ZUG
Athlete, Scholar and Role Model

 

Graham played MAA baseball and football. During his playing days with the MAA he displayed leadership qualities early with a great attitude, hard work, teamwork and team loyalty. He worked hard to develop his skills, maintained a positive attitude and led by example. This inspired his peers to work hard also resulting in competitive and balanced teams. 

During his high school years Graham played football and basketball for the Barons.  He earning All State honors his junior and senior years in football. His great work ethic helped him to lead the state in receiving his senior year, and set nine career/ single season records for the Barons.  That summer he participated in both the North/South and East/West State All Star games. 
 
He is now a red- shirted freshman at Penn State University (2007-08), majoring in kinesiology.  He is a member of the Nittany Lions football squad, having just completed his first year with the team.   

Graham is having a successful season and we know we are going to hear more about our alumnus in the near future.
Graham is also doing exceptionally well in the class room.  Penn State football requires dedication on the field and excellence in the class room.  Graham has stepped up to plate in both arenas. 


We at the MAA are proud to have him as an alumnus and he carries the Manheim banner well.

Josh Clair

After high school Josh  attended and graduated from Lock Haven University with a B.S. in Physical Education.  While  at Lock Haven University he was a 4-year letter winner and 3-year starter in Football.  Josh's  senior year he served as team captain as well as earning the Bob and Carolyn Perry Academic Award for the senior football players with the highest Grade Point Average. 

Upon graduation Josh returned to Manheim and started to substitute teach and coach. Josh spent one year as a Health and PE teacher at H.C. Burgard elementary.  He spent 3 years as a Manheim Central varsity assistant wrestling coach, one year as an assistant middle school track coach, and two years as a MAA A-team midget football coach. 

Josh came up through the MAA with the flag football program first as a player, then as coach, and finishing as a referee.  Josh left Manheim for a full-time Health and PE position at Ephrata High School where he also serve as an Offensive Line/Defensive Line coach and Junior Varsity defensive coordinator.  Josh also was appointed the Head Varsity Wrestling Coach for Ephrata High School and he is currently building a program of distinction. The MAA is proud of Josh and his acheivements and we are proud that he is one of our successful alumnus.
